Library cards are free to area residents. Only patrons with an Ellwood City Area Public Library card can borrow items from our library. It is required to have a valid driver’s license or recent utility bill with your name and current address on it to register for a new library card. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with required ID. Please come on in, and we will be happy to sign you up and welcome you to the library!
The very first time an adult or juvenile cardholder uses a newly issued card, there is a limit of two items on each card. After that, the library allows each adult cardholder a maximum of 30 borrowed items. Ten of these can be DVDs. DVDs can only be taken out on adult cards. The library allows each juvenile cardholder (under 18 years old) a maximum of 10 borrowed items. Items are lent out for two weeks at a time, and may be renewed twice. After that, they must be checked in. Please call or come into the library to renew your items.
Borrowed books may be returned at the front desk’s return window during library hours, or 24/7 into our outdoor book drop. Borrowed DVDs and CDs must be returned inside the library. Items that are late are charged 25 cents per item per day. We can accommodate longer borrowing times on a case by case basis.
Books may be put on hold by calling or visiting our front desk. The library will call you when they are available. If you ever have any questions about your borrowed items, especially if they are overdue, please call us or come in and we will be happy to help!
Libby is a free app that allows you to enjoy E-Books, as well as digital audiobooks and magazines, on your computer, phone, tablet, or other mobile devices. It’s easy to use, there are no late fees, and it’s available 24/7. Click here to use Libby for accessing our district’s online holdings.
In addition, you will be able to access the holdings of several partner libraries. Use your Ellwood City library card number to log in. If you have any questions about using Libby, please call or stop in and we will be glad to provide assistance.
*If you have an older library card that has letters appended to the string of numbers, please omit the letters.
Public computers are available for free to our visitors. Each day, they are shut down half an hour before closing time. You do not need a library card. The first time you visit, you must sign an internet policy agreement. Each time you visit, you are asked to sign in at the front desk before using a public computer. Visitors are welcome to bring their own laptops for use in the library. WiFi access is free, and no password is required.
The library offers printing and copying in black and white only at 25 cents per printed side. Cash or check accepted only. Visitors may print from our public computers or from their own devices such as cell phones and laptops. We also make copies on our copy machine. We do not offer faxing.
ILL is a service that enables patrons to submit requests to borrow holdings from other libraries. Patrons in good standing may request library books (and other materials) not available at our library. Please call or come in, and our staff will assist you. There is no charge for this service, but patrons must be sure to return these items on time and in good condition so we can get them safely back to the lending libraries.
